Introducing
CapptureCloud
Your library on every Mac you own, end-to-end encrypted so only you can open it — links only your recipient can open, and your own AI, connected in a click.
Coming soonSomewhere safe, that only you can open.
Back up your captures and see them on each of your Macs. They are locked on your Mac before they leave it, so the cloud holds only ciphertext — we could not hand over your pictures if we were asked to.
On your Mac
What the cloud holds
The left-hand side never leaves your Mac. The cloud stores the right: a random name, the cipher and bytes only your key opens.
End-to-end encrypted
Every capture is locked on your Mac with AES-256-GCM before a byte is sent, and opened only on your Macs.
Keys never leave your Macs
Made on your Mac and held in its Keychain. We hold ciphertext and nothing that opens it.
Off until you turn it on
Optional, always. Without it, Cappture works exactly as it does today, all on your Mac.
Encrypted end to end. Every file, every name.
Not encrypted “at rest” with a key we keep — encrypted on your Mac with keys we never see. A breach of our storage would leak nothing anyone could open.
- AES-256-GCM
- Authenticated encryption — the cipher banks and governments use.
- 1 key per capture
- Each file has its own key, wrapped by yours.
- 0
- Keys, passwords or pictures we can read.
- Names too
- File names, dates and text are encrypted with the picture.
- 5 security keys
- One for each of your Macs, given to you when you turn Cloud on.
- 0 resets
- No one, us included, can reset your way in. Only your keys open it.
01
A key is made on your Mac
When you turn Cloud on, your Mac makes a 256-bit key and keeps it in the Keychain. It is never uploaded.
02
Each capture is locked on its own
Every photo, video and screenshot gets a fresh key, sealed with AES-256-GCM, and that key is wrapped by yours.
03
Only ciphertext is uploaded
Our storage receives a random name and encrypted bytes. Were they altered, the tag would not match and your Mac would refuse them.
04
Five security keys, one per Mac
When you turn Cloud on you receive five security keys, one for each Mac your licence covers. A Mac joins only with its own key, approved from one you already use.
Send it with a link only they can open.
Share a photo or a video with anyone, on any device, in their browser. The picture is encrypted before the link exists, and the key travels inside the link itself — it expires in 1, 7 or 30 days, or revoke it whenever you like. In Cappture now.

Link
After the # is the key. Browsers never send it to a server — so it never reaches us.

Waiting for the link
Lightning-fast sharing.
Choose Share link on a capture’s preview — or make it one of the preview’s corners. It is encrypted, uploaded, and the link is on your clipboard: paste it anywhere, without leaving what you were doing.
Organized, and secure.
Every screenshot and recording in one searchable place, on your Macs and at dashboard.getcappture.com. Find a capture by its transcript, the text in it, or its tags; give a link an expiry and a password when you need to.
Find a capture by any word in it.
With Cloud, search every capture on every Mac by the words in it. The text is read on your Mac, by your Mac — and the index is encrypted like everything else.

Sign in with your Claude or ChatGPT account, or add an API key for Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq or Mistral — or run Ollama on your own Mac. Keys stay in your Keychain, and requests go from your Mac straight to the provider. Never through us.

Transcripts
What was said in a clip, written down as it plays, and a name for it. The sound goes from your Mac to the AI you connected — never through us.
Okay, it's just after six and the light is coming up over the water. Give it a minute. There, that's the colour I wanted.

Questions about Cloud.
What it will do, what we can see — nothing — and what happens to your keys. The rest of the answers are in Help.
What is Cappture Cloud?
An optional place for your captures: your library on every Mac you own, links you can send to anyone, search by the words in your screenshots, and your own AI for transcripts. It is coming soon, and Cappture works fully without it.
Can you see my photos?
No. Every capture is encrypted on your Mac with AES-256-GCM before anything is sent, with keys that never leave your Macs. We store ciphertext and nothing that opens it — so we could not show anyone your pictures, us included.
What are the five security keys?
When you turn Cloud on, you receive five security keys — one for each Mac your licence covers. A Mac joins your library only with its own key, approved from a Mac that is already in. Keep them somewhere safe: no one can reset your way in, not even us.
What if I lose my keys?
As long as one of your Macs is still in, it can approve another. If every Mac and every key is lost, the library cannot be opened by anyone. That is what end-to-end encryption means, and it is why you get five.
How do secure links work?
Available now, in Cappture 2.37. A link looks like getcappture.com/l/ followed by a long random code, then a key after the #. Browsers never send the part after the # to a server, so the picture is decrypted in the recipient's browser and never by us. Links last 1, 7 or 30 days, and you can revoke one at any time from Settings › Security.
Can I see my library on the web?
Yes — at dashboard.getcappture.com, decrypted in your browser with your keys: search by transcript, the text in your captures or tags, and manage your links, their expiry and passwords.
Does my AI see my library?
Only what you send it. Transcripts and names go from your Mac straight to the provider you connected, on your account or your key — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Groq, Mistral, or Ollama on your own Mac. Never through us.
Do I have to use it?
No. Cloud is off until you turn it on. Without it, everything stays on your Mac exactly as it does today.
